The mission of the Virginia Archeological Resource Center is to provide resources to support the mission of ASV serving local chapters, ASV members, certification students, and the general public in interpretation and education.

The Sandra and William Speiden Laboratory
Thanks to generous lead funding from Sandra and William Speiden, the ASV transformed the first floor of the barn at Kittiewan into a laboratory facility. This dedicated space serves as a hub for research, preservation, and education.
Functionality: The flexible layout also functions as a classroom or meeting space, comfortably seating up to 50 people.
Availability: The functional laboratory is available for use by all ASV Chapters and active members.
VARC is managed by two ASV Committees:
VARC committee: responsible for overseeing all of the society’s archaeological activities, including the management, inventory, and study of all ASV collections.
Research Committee: reviews and approves all ASV and local Chapter archaeological projects to ensure scientific integrity.
